Hello everyone,
Welcome to a new month. I have no idea where the first half of the year went, but here we are, almost at the end of summer already. I hope you've been enjoying the summer, despite the madness happening around us.
To start, I hope everyone who has read Discovering Us loved it. Casey and Kiran had a dynamic I didn't expect, but I had so much fun with them. Keep an eye out for more couples from the Us universe in the future.
Before I get into the updates, did you know we have a Discord and a Ko-fi? Members of the Discord have access to community features, chats, and me. The Ko-fi has both public and member posts. Members of my Ko-fi gain exclusive access to private posts, announcements, and a special area of the Discord server where some exclusive content is posted.
Okay, now for the updates.
To start, I had a rough start to the year, and it took a lot out of me. I've taken a break from writing after releasing Discovering Us, and during that break, I decided on some changes to my original plans for what books will come next.
The esports mm romance is on hold for the moment. I got to the 50% mark and felt that there was something missing. I need to reevaluate the plot as a whole and fix whatever didn't feel right.
LYAT1/4M is also on hold. I will pick it back up, but I don't think that will be until 2026, maybe 2027.
Death's Solace is tabled again. I may just give up on this one; I don't know. I love my characters, but the plot isn't working for me, and each time I try to fix it, it ends up falling flat for me about halfway through. Maybe one day, but for now, I won't promise this one any more.
With so many of my in-progress works getting paused, what do you have to look forward to? Well, I'm happy to say I have a few.
I have a new contemporary romance I've temporarily titled "Risk it All." I've been working and stewing on this one. I need something that's angsty, but queer normative. I'm kind of tired of writing about people being bigots when I have to see it so openly every day. I need something fun. Keep an eye out for more information as I develop this one.
Annnnnd here's the big news. This one is code-named "Epic Slow Burn" (lol). It started as a paranormal romance inspired by a few different anime where the characters were queer-coded, but it was never officially stated that they were together (We all know they are). This story will be a fantasy mm romance. It will be a love letter to all of my head-canon couples in anime/manga. I'm really excited for this one, but it's taking a lot of planning because of world-building, and the general scale of the story may require multiple books to complete it. Anywhere between 2 to 3 parts is where I currently think it will land. As a pantser, this is the most I have ever plotted. (I'm super excited for this one. I can't stop thinking about it.)
That's all I have for now.
Always,
Jamie
