ARC Readers
An ARC is an Advanced Review Copy of an unpublished book sent to reviewers for free in exchange for an honest review. An ARC reader will read the book prior to the publication date (release day) and will either post a review before, on the day of, or shortly after the release.
ARC readers may also provide direct feedback to the author, especially in cases where they disliked the book or chose to DNF (did not finish).
Beta Readers
A Beta Reader is someone willing to offer their time to the author in exchange for receiving early versions of a book where the reader can provide constructive criticism and feedback to help improve the novel prior to editing and release.
This feedback is meant to be from the perspective of an average reader and allow the author understanding of areas that don't fit or miss the mark. This feedback is used to improve the story, plot, pacing, and consistency.
